Do you know when exactly the airport will be completed and how many lights were used?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has an idea for a more precise time frame for the airport opening? The 2010 Outlook says September, is that still accurate? I am planning a trip to Hamburg for the fall and would love for it to coincide with the airport opening.
So will there be actual lift offs and landings by small planes? Or will they be somehow simulated, perhaps as the planes in the Alps section?

It is hard to say when the airport will open excatly. We are still planing to open the airport at the end of september. But it is impossible to say when excatly. We will open when it is finished and perfect. But our building groung is always public. If oyu visit in September you can see probably a opened or nearly finished airport

So I hope you will open the airport when it is mostly working. So will the actual small planes really take off and land? Or will this be simulated.

Hello Defiant, unfortunately, right now we cannot quite predict, when we will open, and unfortunately, NO, we cannot open it up, when it's "mostly" running. The technical installations have to be running perfectly before we can sculpt the actual layout. On the bright side, as far as buildings, etc. many many things are concerned, the model department has much already prepared and ready to build in. So we hope, that as soon as the technical installations work as we wish, we can predict the opening of the layout. Things change too fast here. Last week, we were still talking about an Opening in September/October...we'll see... Then again, sometimes is think of six impossible things before breakfast Of course, all plane take offs and landings will be simulated. Look at the youtube-clips "Gerrits Diary" to see how it works...there, you will also learn about the development problems, we are sometimes facing. Have fun!

Sonja: Thank you so much for pointing out these YouTube videos. They are very interesting and have English subtitles for those of us who are ignorant in German. But would you happen to know which one is the last one? Is it "Gerrits Tagebuch Vol. 13"? It is a little hard to do chronological searches in YouTube. Also, is there a notification list that lets everyone know about when these clips are being published?

Hello Defiant,
Thirsty1 Work is right: Vol 14 is for now the most recent edition. There will be new Gerrit's Diary every month, but we cannot always foresee, when they are being produced or published, respectively. Just keep checking (best on the German News section if you are chomping on the bit, as they are usually finished first). By the way, we also have MIWULA TV Reports on youtube with more updates on the Airport section, and the Wunderland in general.
Have fun Sonja
