Just to say Hello to all!

My name is Dimitris born March 12 1967 and I live in Piraeus Greece (the main port).
Railway modelling is the (indoor) hobby I enjoy the most and I focus on German landscape and rolling stock.
I visited Miniature Wunderland in March 2005 (No Alps or water then...)and I hope to come back soon as this is the reference point of our hobby!

For the last 8 years I am constructing a layout in DCC HO :the so called "Project Neustadt"

Everything ( from metal work, wooden work, electronics and the layout itself done by the undersigned.)

I am really glad of being part of this forum,

Greetings from Greece,

Jimmy.k

Good evening to all!

After almost nine months of work ... (including the turntable) ,the industry module of the Neustadt project , is now presentable and ready to be installed.

Two minor parts missing : a.some photo etched hand rails for the chimney (under way) and b.The (computer driven) device that will enable lights to light randomly.

During construction I had to overcome some issues i.e a big part of the industry was scratch built, led flashers and smoke generators were istalled, as well as motors for the mine and the Brawa overhead system and last but not least I placed two small louspeakers that reproduce pre-recorded industrial sounds!

Good day to all and happy new decade.

New "sub-project" of the Neustadt diorama is a tram and city (L shaped)module that will bond together the foreground and the background of the layout.

This one is the first out of three, is the smallest (dimension-wise) and is 90% complete.Due to its reduced width,I had to use low relief buildings.

More details for the construction etc. can be found on my Flick r photostream.

Finally some photos of the non-finished layout (with industrial zone in place).

Hi everyone!

Some time since our last communication, I would like to present the second of three modules with code name:  "city scenes".
These form a (L) and consist of a low relief diorama (presented first) and two other ,measuring 480 × 25 cm.
The presented module will be installed directly opposite the industrial zone.

The station building is almost ready.Only interior lighting, sound effects and details are missing.
However the constuction timetable for this specific part of the layout is mid June 2010!

Thanks for looking, thanks for commenting!

Greetings from Greece!

Dimitris.

Hi Dimitris, that's an impressive work to your "Neustadt" project. Everyone has different hobbies, but your hobby is so exciting I guess. As I was thinking of, I can't do that. However, it likes so interesting. :D

Thank you for your comments.
Yes, each one of us has different hobbies,I believe -however- that railway modelling is one of the most integrated and requiring on the part of the modeller.

Thank's again for your time,

greetings from Greece,

Dimitris.

Good evening,

Almost two months since our last contact due to the fact I had to program all addresses and characteristics of the 80 points ,60 occupancy detectors , 124 reed relays και 24 feedback decoders of the hidden yards.

Modelling-wise... I installed the first "city module".
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 636185609/

I worked on the connection of the two turntables,
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 636188751/

finally I put in place both the "station work office" and the smaller coal station.
(Did I ever mention, this is a multi era layout ??!!)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 636798466/

To be continued,

Dimitris.

Good evening,

next addition to the project is the water tower.

This is placed just behind the administration building and was built on a separate "diorama" in order to allow access to the back of the layout.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 664327706/

The connection between the industrial zone and the Brawa parallel can be seen on the following links.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 663705585/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 663706643/

Thank' s for watching,

Dimitris.

Good evening to all.

The new addition to the "Project Neustadt" is the second city scene , that is installed just behind the industrial zone (according to plan)
Next, all necessary connections were made and all lights were divided to zones so they can be driven by the computer (random, night and day etc).

In the relevant photostream you can see the new module in place, some night shots with only the diorama lights on and some panoramic views.

Here a small example:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 683103047/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 683751946/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/my_layout_ ... 683114035/

You can find much more on the photostream.

There are so many things missing (Nature, details, overhead etc...) but step by step it starts to resemble to something like a train diorama!

Good night to all!

Dimitris.

Good evening ta all!

Next addition to the project is the dormitory building.
This specific "sub-project" connects the industry with the rest of the layout as well as with the harbour (a project of the near future....).
Trees are custom made and I hope you like them!
