Just a question about the crowd scenes in the layout - were the miniature people figures purchased or made from scratch?

I am working on a crowd scene of my own, but purchasing thousands of tiny people can be expensive. I was just curious what Miniatur Wunderland did in this instance, and if anybody knew of a way to make HO scale figures from molds?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi mattypark and welcome to the forum!
We did it the hard way: All figures in the layout are purchased; be it from Preiser or Merten (mostly animals), or from all over the world. The mainstay of the figures are Preiser figures though. Here's a link to their website(in German).

A few months have passed, and I tried making molds of figures, but found it too complicated. I ended up doing it the hard way as well for my project. Here is a link to my blog with some pictures of the final result:
